Railway Group D Selection Process 2026
The selection process is based on the applicant’s academic knowledge, physical fitness, document verification, and medical condition. The applicant must qualify for all stages for the final selection according to the Railway Recruitment Board. The RRB Group D selection process is based on the following key stages;
- Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- This test is conducted online based on objective-type questions.
- The subjects will be Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness.
- The applicants who will pass this online test and score according to the required marks criteria will qualify for the next stage.
- Negative marking is applicable, and a correct answer will be given 1 mark.
- The assessment process is based on Objective Type with multiple choice questions, with a deduction of 1/3 marks for each incorrect answer.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Applicants who are qualified for CBT have to qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) as the next stage.
- This test is based on running, weight lifting, and other required fitness activities by the RRB.
- Male candidates must lift and carry the weight of 35 KG for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
- Female candidates should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.
- Male candidates must meet the running criteria by running 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance, whereas female candidates will run 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.
- The marks qualification based on categories are UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC(Non creamy layer)–30%, SC-30%, ST-30%. The percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates.
- Document Verification
- After qualifying for PET, the next stage is document verification and eligibility criteria.
- Original documents are needed along with educational qualifications, age, category, and others to be eligible to complete the verification process.
- Provide self-attested copies of all the academic, identity, and work experience documents.
- Medical Examination
- The final stage is the medical examination of the applicants to meet the required medical standards by the Railway.
- The final appointment will be based on the verified and eligible medical examination.
